| now we debate!!!!
Application software is any tool that functions and is operated by means of a computer, with the purpose of supporting or improving the software user's work. In other words, it is the subclass of computer software that employs the capabilities of a computer directly and thoroughly to a task that the user wishes to perform.
This should be contrasted with system software (infrastructure) or middleware (computer services/ processes integrators), which is involved in integrating a computer's various capabilities, but typically does not directly apply them in the performance of tasks that benefit the user. In this context the term application refers to both the application software and its implementation.

| Based on my study..hehe application software, from the word itself.a software that you apply. e.i., Microsoft Word is used to create documents similar to you create manually on paper. Accounting Softwares those are used for accounting which is simallarly done manually on Account Book. System software are the software you encounter to the PC or deals with the hardware or system itself. e.i., Disk Management Tools which are used to partition or format the disk. thus, application software are easier to be understood by normal users(ung mga pafriendster2 lang), than system software.. (my nose is bleeding) | |

Say like..... Tune up utilities. Its quite confusing... hi there Baldowz. I think this tune up utilities is a third party software. from the word tune up utilities I guest it control and coordinate the computer operations. So this is not a application software. Its system software. I hope it wont confuse you anymore. | |
